“Where’s your bathroom? Take me there.”

This is Chad.

Isn’t he lovely?  I’m pretty fond of him.  We met during the summer right before, what should have been, my senior year at Purdue University in good ole’ West Lafayette, Indiana.  It was 2006…and there is not much I remember about that summer unfortunately.  You see, we used to drink a lot.

I lived in a house with 3 of my girlfriends along with 2 cats and a dog (the dog was mine…and is now ours *swoon*).  I love those girls and that summer was pretty epic as far as partying goes.  We decided to have people over for the 4th of July.  Some friends asked if they could bring Chad along.  I knew of Chad but had never met him formally.

I wasn’t impressed.  He came over drunk and I think he tried to start a fight with someone…which was kind of his thing.  The first thing Chad ever said slurred to me was “Where’s your bathroom?  Take me there.”  Romantic, huh?  If someone would have told me that night that I would eventually MARRY Chad, I would have probably punched them right in the throat.

We saw each other out at the bars a couple times after that…and this is where everything is a little fuzzy to me…apparently we hit it off shortly after because after a couple nights of hanging out at the bars, we were hanging out just the two of us.  Like every night.

By the time the school year kicked off the following fall, I was pretty much living with Chad.  In a studio apartment.  With a dog and a cat.  The rest is history.  We lived in that studio apartment for a year, and I think if any couple can live in such small quarters with two hairy animals for that long and not kill each other, they are meant to be together for life.

I totally dig my husband.

That’s the story of how we met…it’s not something you’d see in a Nicholas Sparks novel, but I’m sorry, I have to say it…I totally fucking hate The Notebook.  Ladies, send your hate mail to kelliasutton at gmail dot com.

So maybe it’s not a love story we’ll tell our future children when they are young…I’ll probably just lie and tell them we met at The Gap.

Awww “The Summer of Kelli”, which it was so fondly named. Even to this day when I refer to anything that ever happened that summer that it what I call it. Even to people I just met in Portland. I love this blog by the way, and I am anxiously awaiting the “September news”. (It better be damn good!) Also… I may be coming to a state nearer you… which includes any state east of Kansas. Lovies.

Carlie!! Glad you found your way over to my blaaawg!! I miss the Summer of Kelli…we need to have a wild girls night out sometime this summer when you find your way back to Indiana. Let me know as soon as you know where you will be working next. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for somewhere veeeery close (yeah I totally meant that to sound way creepy).

BTW, September news is very exciting…I might just have to tell you sooner than September, but only because I still feel guilty about that one time I almost let you die in your sleep.

I’ll text you the “September” news…I have to keep all my blog readers in suspense (all 3 of them haha!)

I guess I’ll just have to spend another year pining over you…young love is SO HARD haha! It would be awesome if you went to grad school at IU!

Are you going to be here at all this summer? I had talked to Brenda about everyone getting together for a wild weekend or something in Laf-town, and your presence is required! Let me know!
